Hub for Applied Bioinformatics
Training
One of the aims of the HAB is to provide support to the research community, which will be achieved by developing and delivering training courses and workshops. Understanding that everyone learns in a different way, within the HAB we cater for a variety of learning styles and needs including online workshops, live training, group learning, and ad hoc sessions.
Our workshops (both in person and online) are designed to provide both conceptual information and hands-on live coding, and can be targeted to beginners, intermediate, and more advance users.
If you prefer to learn at your own pace, we offer free recorded online sessions.
Please look at the schedule to see the courses available and dates.
In-person Workshops
Our workshops are designed to provide both conceptual information and hands-on live coding. Our workshops cover a wide variety of topics ranging from the popular scripting languages that are commonly used in Bioinformatics to the analysis of biological data. Our workshops are targeted to beginners, intermediate, and more advance users.
Online Training
If you prefer to learn at your own pace, we offer free pre-recorded online workshops. These workshops are developed in collaboration with Innovation Scholar UK. We currently offer 30+ courses where the delegate can learn at their own pace. Each course contains course information, short tasks and questions to aid the delegates learning, in their own time.
One day data clinic
Following the online training, the delegate can register for a “One day data clinic” sessions that will allow participants to follow up on the learning materials, practice with a tutor and ask specific questions.
Group Learning
Members of Kings can request custom designed short courses concentrating on a particular bioinformatic topic for a small number of delegates. In addition, we offer several group engagement activities, more information here
Summer School
We are also planning to organise an Introduction to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Summer School, covering the basics of programming and NGS, and how to perform bioinformatics analyses.
As part of our training efforts to upskill the community, seminars and data clubs are also available; you can learn more in the event page
MSc in Applied Bioinformatics
Our team teaches on the Masters for Applied Bioinformatics, please refer to this page for more information.
