New and coming soon online training courses.

At the HAB we provide training courses on a plethora of Bioinformatic subjects.  Each course is led by an experienced instructor that specialises in the course subject.  During each course you will have the opportunity to answer short questions on the subject to ensure effective learning.  Each virtual course is designed to assist learners in their Bioinformatic learning journey, helping them achieve their desired expertise.  More information on the courses found here (https://hab.sites.er.kcl.ac.uk/training/).

The UNIX workshop is now live!

  • There are no prerequisites .
  • Based on the Software Carpentry Unix Shell.
  • Delivered by certified Software/Data Carpentry Instructors.

Whilst the Graphical User Interface (GUI) can be handy and more intuitive at first this can make some tasks more tedious and time consuming. The Unix shell is both a command-line interface (CLI) and a scripting and can helps us automate tasks so that they can be repeated infinite times as well as limiting typing and therefore reducing the chance of committing errors. This course will allow the participant to fluently navigate the command line interface, learning to execute basic code via the command line. The student will be guided in a gentle journey and by the end will be able to generate programming shell scripts. This course will be a prerequisite for the Introduction to HPC workshop.
